Kápolnapuszta Buffalo Reserve

The reserve plays an important role in the survival and preservation of the gene pool of the water buffalo, native to Hungary, and is a popular centre for presenting the species.

The largest visitable buffalo herd in Hungary lives here. Telescopes help visitors watch the animals; the lucky ones can see wallowing, grazing buffaloes as well as nimble ground squirrels. In winter, the buffaloes are in the stable and the pen around it, where they can be seen up close. The reserve is open all year round, with a signposted walking trail, and a playground and petting zoo for the little ones.
