Kis-Balaton / Kányavár Island

Kányavár Island is a strictly protected area of the Kis-Balaton. A road leads to the island, with a car park at its end. You reach the small island via a special wooden bridge. The National Park Directorate has created the Great Crested Grebe nature trail on the island. The trail has 15 stations, is about 1.5 km long and can be walked comfortably in an hour. Information boards present the birdlife of the Kis-Balaton.

In the middle of the island there is a wooden bird-watching hide , and the multi-level lookout tower has been rebuilt; coming from the bridge, turn left at the clearing in front of the hide and you will reach it in a few minutes' walk.
